Program 1 [2020]
Coalition Building: RNEA assembled a truly unprecedented multi-racial, multi-issue regional coalition across the six New England states. The coalition - which includes approximately 150 organizations - brought together frontline communities, Indigenous tribes, labor unions, environmental justice advocates, youth groups, racial justice organizations, anti-poverty and affordable housing advocates and food justice networks. The coalition is led by a majority-BIPOC Council representing all six states, and Council members formed Renew coalitions in each of their respective states, which mirror the inclusive composition of the Council with representatives of frontline and marginalized communities in leadership positions at all levels. Policy and Program Development: The RNEA state coalitions collectively developed a detailed, ambitious, truly intersectional policy vision that simultaneously addresses mass unemployment, racial injustice and the climate crisis. Our collaborative process was designed to build trust and ensure full alignment among coalition member organizations by centering the needs of the most impacted communities and baking in equity provisions from the start. Grassroots Organizing: To draw attention to the problems of racial injustice, economic injustice, and the climate crisis and their solutions in our region, RNEA coalitions launched large-scale public education and grassroots organizing projects led by our local and state coalitions and supported by our regional organizing and communications hubs.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$289.3KOrganizer Training Program
