Farmer First Food Systems
Acceso (Spanish for 'access') is revolutionizing food systems in Latin America and the Caribbean to put smallholder farmers and food system workers first. Acceso's social enterprise model creates 'farmer first' food systems that enable farmers to fairly participate in high value domestic and international markets. Acceso provides smallholders a 'one-stop-shop' to remove all the barriers they face in trading with these markets. This model improves and reduces farmers' cost of production and builds the operational infrastructure needed to get their harvest to market. Meanwhile, Acceso provides large buyers with a single, transparent, and reliable system to source high quality production from smallholders at scale. MODERN FARMER PROJECT: Acceso Impact has a Memorandum of Understanding with Food Intelligence to provide administrative and accounting support to their project, "Modern Farmer". This project provides educational literature on sustainable farming practices and food systems.
