The AFL-CIO Technology Institute supports unions to develop the capacity to respond to and get ahead of technology driven changes in industry. Their work focuses on how automation technologies, including artificial intelligence and related technologies are reshaping work, and facilitating the involvement of unions and workers in research and development, policy analysis, bargaining at the firm level, and enhancing worker training and apprenticeship programs. During its initial year of operation the AFL-CIO Technology Institute focused on researching the impact of technological changes on the workplace and workers. The aim is to develop effective strategies for addressing challenges and benefits for workers to benefit fully from technological changes.
