Oceanographic Data Collection and Storytelling
In 2022 Apparent Winds secured a vessel that will act as our office, platform for research and means of travel for our team for the next 10 years. In July of 2022 we began our regular on-board oceanographic data collection program with parameters including sea surface temperature, conductivity and salinity. In July we also begin field work in Alaska and British Columbia. We interviewed, filmed and produced stories from indigenous leaders, scientists and other people and organizations who are currently working to preserve environment and culture in their local communities. We continued to operate in the field for the remainder of the year from Alaska on down to San Diego. We hosted our first outside biologists aboard in October of 2022 and conducted a marine mammal survey along the coasts of Washington, Oregon and California. Three of our major accomplishments in 2022 included 1 securing a vessel for our organization to operate for the entirety of our 10 year expedition. 2 Launching our on-board oceanographic data collection program 3 Launching our storytelling initiative.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2022 – Dec 31, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$475.4K
