Impact Campaigns for Educational Media
Run impact campaigns for the media the Organization helps create. These campaigns are intended to expand the educational media's reach as far as possible to raise the awareness of the covered topic. Organization initiatives include activities such as coordinating screenings at community centers and educational institutions, preparing educational companion materials, and hosting virtual Q+As. In 2022, the Organization worked on two major campaigns: widening exposure for "Battleground" as well as "The 50." For "Battleground," the Organization worked alongside women's rights groups to screen the film in more than fifty cities. For "the 50," the Organization worked with criminal justice reform groups to expand the program featured in the documentary, a parallel path mentor program to rehabilitate incarcerated individuals.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2022 – Dec 31, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$391.2KSupport for Educational Media Production
Support the production and release of educational media. This includes pre-production support, such as preparing budgets, vetting partners, and creating project plans. It includes production support, such as securing interviews with subjects, solving logistical issues, providing notes, and sharing institutional knowledge with filmmakers. It also includes release support, such as working with distributors, traveling to festivals, and building tools with the purpose of securing the widest possible exposure of the educational media. In 2022, the Organization worked on "One Point Five," "Battleground," "Been Here Stay Here," as well as "Fairyland." Work included securing interview subjects, preparing research on Roe v. Wade, supporting logistical production support in San Francisco, attending and pitching "Battleground" at the Tribeca film festival, and many other activities to support the production and distribution of these projects.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2022 – Dec 31, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$197.2KDonor-Filmmaker Connection for Educational Films
Connect donors to filmmakers to ensure that individual educational films have the funding needed to be completed. The Organization will maintain a network of donors and filmmakers, and will facilitate collaboration between the two in order to foster the production of educational media. In 2022, the Organization connected filmmakers and donors on 4 key projects: a climate documentary that chronicles the UN climate change conference, a women's rights documentary that follows the overturn of Roe v. Wade, a climate documentary that tells the story of the first American climate refugees, and an LGBTQ+ feature that tells the story of AIDS in the gay community in the 1970s and 1980s. Across all projects, the Organization facilitated >$2M in funding between donors and filmmakers.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2022 – Dec 31, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$152.2K
