Community Behavioral Health - Trauma and addiction are a reality in our community, so finding the best fit for mental health therapy and addictions treatment is vital. As a Latino-serving agency, it is critical that services be offered in English and Spanish, and ideally, are provided by individuals who also bring lived experiences from multicultural communities. Mental Health counselors have background and training in Couples and Family Therapy and Social Work and work with adults and children to offer education and support around mental health disorders and cognitive and behavioral health. Addictions counselors conduct individual and group sessions with youth and adults, and they also treat problem gambling addiction. This team of therapists and counselors specifically address the mental health and addictions needs of those without health insurance and those on Medicaid. Children and family services - Families form the basic social structure in our community, and community health and wellness depend on children and families being safe and secure. Centro Latino Americano case managers meet families and individuals where they are at and help them to develop and meet their goals for self-sufficiency. This program is on the front lines of significant social justice issues: poverty, employment, affordable transportation, food security, health care, immigration and stable housing. Youth Services - Ensuring that all youth experience connection to their community is the responsibility of everyone. Connection to community is a key protective factor for kids. Centro's youth programs perform two primary functions: 1) we provide one-on-one mentoring for youth ages 11 to 17, and 2) we offer a substance use and violence prevention program for youth in middle school. Mentors are caring adults who come from the community. What they offer our youth is invaluable: time and attention. Youth who struggle often lack the skills and abilities to negotiate social and peer pressures.
