Day & Multi-Day Programs
Day & Multi-Day Programs are the foundation of our programming model and promote confidence, outdoor skill building, positive identity, and exposure to the natural world. These programs include Canoemobile – a “floating classroom” that serves more than 32,000 youth and families in more than 80 communities nationally – in addition to overnight camping trips, virtual programs, and Outdoor Credit Recovery – which supports students in earning academic credit through hands-on, immersive outdoor learning. Day & Multi-Day Programs are designed for all ages and abilities with a significant focus on youth and introduce participants to the physical, mental, and social health benefits of time outside through land- and water-based activities.GeographiesTwin Cities, MN, USA;Minnesota, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedEducation,Environment,Science,Sports and recreationAge groups,Ethnic and racial groups,Families,Non-adult children,Parents,People with disabilities,People with diseases and illnesses,At-risk youth,Economically disadvantaged people,Immigrants and migrants,Academics,Military personnel,Veterans39K–Near - Nature & Extended Overnight Adventures
Near-Nature & Extended Overnight Adventures are at the center of our programming model and deepen outdoor skill development, connection to nature, group affiliation, and sense of accomplishment. These shared experiences can range from 1-2 overnights close to home to immersive 3-15 nights of exploration in the backcountry and other destinations. Activities expand camping, paddling, and other skills while fostering community and belonging.GeographiesTwin Cities, MN, USA;Minnesota, USA;United StatesDatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedEducation,Environment,Human rights,Sports and recreationAge groups,Ethnic and racial groups,Caregivers,Families,Non-adult children,Parents,Gender and sexual identity,People with disabilities,People with diseases and illnesses,At-risk youth,Economically disadvantaged people,Immigrants and migrants,Nomadic people,Academics,Military personnel,Veterans1.8K–Leadership & Career Pathways
Leadership & Career Pathways represent the top tier of our programming model and build leadership, advocacy for self and others, and engagement within the outdoors community. Through internships, fellowships, career-training, credentialing, and skills development opportunities, we support opportunities for life-long engagement in community and in the outdoors. Wilderness Inquiry’s Outdoor Fellowship is an example of a program at this top tier of engagement and is designed for individuals who come from a community underrepresented in outdoor careers. This full-time, 10-week paid opportunity provides training, mentorship, and hands-on experiences for individuals who may be new to the outdoor recreation field.GeographiesMinnesota, USA;Twin Cities, MN, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedEducation,Environment,Science,Sports and recreationAge groups,Ethnic and racial groups,Gender and sexual identity,People with disabilities,People with diseases and illnesses,At-risk youth,Economically disadvantaged people472–
