Grants For Teaching and Learning
The Berkeley Public Schools Funds largest program expenditure is for grants to support teaching and student learning in Berkeleys 19 public schools, serving over 9,500 students. The Schools Fund provides fiscal sponsorship services including management, administrative and advisory services for special funds established by individuals or businesses and held by the Schools Fund to be used for specific programs. STEM Programming The Berkeley Public Schools Fund, in coordination with BUSD, began offering a continuum of free, K-12 STEM programming in spring 2022. These out-of-school time learning opportunities (summer, weekends, and school holiday recesses) are designed to increase diverse representation and to build student confidence and participation in STEM subjects: K-5th Grade: Winter and Spring Break Camps Fun STEM exploration activities and field trips for our youngest students during school breaks. 1st-5th Grade: Super Science Saturdays for 12 Saturdays during the school year, 240 students engage in hands-on learning through field trips and age specific activities. 6th-10th Grade: Summer STEM/Maker Camp A 4-week, project-based summer camp where 250 students explore engineering and design. 11th-12th Grade - STEM/Maker Mentors 40 high school students work as paid mentors in the middle school STEM/Maker Camp and Super Science Saturdays.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJul 1, 2022 – Jun 30, 2023Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$158.1K
