Cancer Care Access Program
The Womens Cancer Resource Center improves equitable access to cancer information, support and care. Staff often observe that cancer often is not the greatest concern for the low-income and marginalized individuals in our client base. Limited access to primary health care, inadequate health services and financial resources, language and cultural barriers, racism, and mistrust of medical systems contribute to late diagnosis and earlier death, especially for African American, Latinx, and all other groups of low-income women with cancer. WCRC provides a set of comprehensive, coordinated services that include community-based cancer patient navigation, psychotherapy and affinity-based support groups (LBTQIA, African American, Latinx), peer support, information and referral, and wellness programs to mitigate these problems for people with limited access to essential, life-giving care.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJul 1, 2021 – Jun 30, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$569.6KEmergency Financial Assistance for Cancer Patients
In addition to the community-based cancer patient navigation, psychotherapy and affinity-based support groups (LBTQIA, African American, and Latinx), peer support, information and referral, and wellness programs offered at WCRC, we also offer emergency financial assistance to low-income people living in Alameda and Contra Costa counties through two programs: The Faith Fancher Breast Cancer Emergency Fund and The Lindy Fund. This year, we also provided financial assistance to clients with cancer who were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJul 1, 2021 – Jun 30, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$170.5KProgram 1 [2025]
