In response to the state's growing homeless crisis, Kahauiki Village is a plantation style community development designed to house Hawaii's homeless families. Kahauiki Village is a groundbreaking initiative that maximizes public and private resources to implement a long-term strategy aimed to achieve the following outcomes: Provide homes for homeless families; Provide employment opportunities within walking distance for homeless parents; Offer accomodation options for extended families. Kahauiki Village is a proposed community of approximately 150 one and two bedroom homes. When completed, Kahauiki Village is expected to house over 600 adults and children.
