Mission Statement
Mission: Cradles to Crayons provides children from birth through age 12 living in homeless or low-income situations with the essential items they need to thrive at home, at school, and at play. We supply clothing, shoes, diapers, school supplies, and more free of charge.
Description of Organization's Services: Everyday Essentials is our core, overarching service, which mitigates children's Clothing Insecurity – the lack of access to affordable, adequate, and appropriate clothing. Our community-based model relies on partnerships with a network of service providers, including schools, hospitals, nonprofits, and state agencies, that request and distribute size-specific, gendered/gender-neutral, seasonal clothing and other essentials to thousands of children in their care. Collection drives for children's new and like-new goods for redistribution are conducted by corporations, schools, individuals, and community groups. Integral to our daily warehouse operations in The Giving Factory, thousands of corporate and community volunteers sort and inspect donations to package partners' requests for children. Our organizational goal is to End Clothing Insecurity for children (#endclothing insecurity). We also have sites that serve Greater Philadelphia and Chicagoland. To serve the unmet need across the United States, the organization launched a new digital model, Giving Factory Direct, which allows individuals to send essential items directly from their homes to children via a network of local service partners. The platform is operational in the organization's current sites and in New York City. The number of people served, along with the revenue and the expense, are for Massachusetts in FY24. Charity Navigator ranks C2C in its top 2% of charities for operational excellence with a four-star rating for fourteen consecutive years.
