Everyday Essentials
Everyday Essentials is our core, overarching service, which mitigates children's Clothing Insecurity – the lack of access to affordable, adequate, and appropriate clothing. Since its founding in 2002 in Massachusetts, Cradles to Crayons (C2C) has been one of a few nonprofit organizations in the nation that provides free, year-round services to reduce Clothing Insecurity and provide school supplies to promote school readiness to alleviate the adverse effects of poverty, advancing a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive society by expanding their opportunities to prosper. The lack of proper clothing contributes to children's poor attention spans, absenteeism, and ill health and threatens their chances for academic and workforce success. C2C organizes two annual seasonal initiatives under the umbrella of Everyday Essentials. Ready for Learning (6/1-9/30) offers backpacks, school supplies, clothing, and more during the back-to-school time to promote school readiness. Gear Up for Winter (10/1-3/31) provides winter wear and coats to protect children from the cold. In Massachusetts, C2C's new Seasonal Essentials Delivered program also delivers seasonal clothing and other essentials to children in seven partner school districts and eight Department of Children & Families sites, with biannual deliveries in the fall and spring. We also have sites that serve Greater Philadelphia and Chicagoland. The number of people served, along with the revenue and the expense, are for Massachusetts in FY24. To serve the unmet need across the United States, the organization launched a new digital model, Giving Factory Direct, which allows individuals to send essential items directly from their homes to children via a network of local service partners. The platform is operational in the organization's current sites and in New York City.Geographies4700 Wissahickon Ave Suite 142, Philadelphia, PA 19144, USA;2500 W Bradley Pl, Chicago, IL 60618, USA;281 Newtonville Ave, Newton, MA 02460, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedHuman servicesChildren,Infants and toddlers,Preteens370K$6M
