West Shore Theatre Community Programs
The 2024-2025 fiscal year of Friends of the West Shore Theatre, Inc. was remarkably successful both programmatically and financially. Considering that we have been open for a short three years we are attracting large audiences and generous donations. We are closing in on the completion of our capital campaign used to purchase and renovate the 1939 building of the West Shore Theatre (WST). We expect to have all loans paid in full by early 2026. This years operating budget exceeds our projections. We continue to expand our program offerings, including the first full year of Theatre-arts education classes for youth, pre-school through 8th grade. Classes are fully subscribed, and additional sessions have been added. Movies are offered both 1st run and a wide repertoire of classic films. Local and nationally recognized musical groups are being featured, often sold out several weeks in advance of shows We served audiences of over 25,000 in 2024-2025. Programs also include Improv, puppet shows, sensory respectful movies, and much more. The theatre is available for rentals for parties, meetings and more. WST partners with community groups to feature Veterans honors, Easter Friday Service, New Cumberland Borough planning unveiling, The Collective and more. Last year the theatre received several awards: Best Movie Theatre by Pennlive.com, PA and Best Theatre in Susquehanna Styles 2024 Best of Dauphin and Cumberland County Awards. We were thrilled to be chosen to receive the 2024 Pennsylvania Historic Preservation Award Preservation Award: Leadership Award-Public Impact. (Public Impact Excellence in using a historic building as a catalyst to enrich the community.) They also featured us in the Preservation Magazine Winter 2025, How 6 Historic Movie Theatres Maintain the Magic of the Big Screen. During fiscal year 2025-2026 we will be planning for a second capital campaign to build and addition at the rear of WST historic building to provide such needed spaces as a Green Room, an intimate small theatre, and more.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJul 1, 2024 – Jun 30, 2025Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$810.9K
